01

Use of Hostbook

Hostbook provides restaurant reservation, guest communication, and venue-management tools. Venues are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, reservation policies, guest communications, and operational decisions.

02

Reservations and venue policies

Reservation availability, seating decisions, cancellation rules, no-show policies, deposits, and refund decisions are controlled by the venue. Hostbook facilitates communication between venues and guests but does not guarantee seating or service.

03

Communications

Email is Hostbook's default operational channel. Marketing or member-list email requires its own consent and unsubscribe controls. Hostbook does not use its operational SMS program for promotions, event invitations, review requests, purchased lists, or arbitrary bulk messages.

04

Hostbook operational SMS program

Operational SMS is available only to Premium venues. PAYG venues use email for Hostbook communications, while phone numbers may still be used by venue staff for manual calls.

When a guest separately checks the optional SMS consent box, Hostbook may send operational texts about that guest's reservations, waitlist visits, or registered events with that venue, including confirmations, confirmation requests, late-arrival checks, cancellations, and time-sensitive changes.

At a Premium venue, authorized staff may record that a guest provided a mobile number and verbally agreed to receive fixed Hostbook operational texts for that venue. This durable permission is person-specific and bound to the exact phone number, disclosure version, venue, staff identity, and timestamp. It may support future reservations, waitlist visits, and registered events at that venue while the number remains current. It never permits custom or marketing texts, and staff recording cannot replace an already-known Push preference.

Message frequency varies, typically 1-5 messages per reservation, waitlist visit, or event. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of booking. Reply HELP for help or STOP to unsubscribe. Because Hostbook operates one shared messaging program, STOP applies globally to operational SMS from Hostbook, including messages associated with other venues. Reply START or UNSTOP to remove that global suppression; resubscription restores only still-active, previously recorded SMS preferences and consent and does not create new consent.

For help with Hostbook texts, email support@thehostbook.com. Venues cannot write or edit SMS message bodies. Fixed service closure and delay batches are operational notices generated from a service and template selected in Hostbook; they are not arbitrary bulk or marketing SMS. Staff attestation and audit controls improve evidence and accountability but do not override applicable law or a global STOP, and venues remain responsible for truthful attestations.
